Ever so often these days do you hear a rapper who’s coming in the game with a slow and smooth flow. Well, Until you’ve listened to J$on (j $hon when singing and J son when rapping). the 25 year old Houston artist Json is notified for his distinct voice which carries you on his Houstonian flow. Far from the “Rara, Trap” as Json says he’s much more into slowing it dine keeping it chill for him and the ladies with his playarized r&b persona. J$ON’s artistry paints a picture of the internal conflict of a man who has learned from past experiences not to take women too serious, but at the same time the influence of the constant drugs and liquor causes him to go against his own beliefs and fall victim to his intense infatuation for women. Leading to lustful nights followed by a morning of clarity, but the start of confusion between him and the woman.
Growing up since a lil Jit, J$on has always been rapping and free-styling around his house, disturbing the peace in his home as he says, his mom would constantly be telling him to “shutup, shutup, shutup.” Never paying her any mind, J$on’s free-styling from home carried on to school Freestyle battling for fun. At the age of 18, Being around his high school patnas, they noticed how he had A ear for dissecting songs, pointing out where this artist could’ve done this different, or this artist didn’t do as good on the delivery as they could’ve, they further influenced him to take it more seriously. A few years down the line when attending college for football took a turn. Pusruing his passion for music opened up. “i got my refund check and took my ass to um Guitar center, got me a lil 80 dollar microphone, you know … the basics” is how the pursuit started. having a morning scheduled semester, when J$on would get out of class his homies would just be going into class. This left him with nothing but time to throw together some tracks.
Heavily influenced by Jcole and Future, J$on takes heed to their effortless flow approach to music. “i like effortless flows i think thats my thing, in my eyes them like the two most effortless flowed niggas, like that shit don’t sound like they trying.” this influence spills off into his whole discography making it his artist build up ,”i got the flow of a nigga who ain’t even gotta say shit, but the whole time i got substance…a oxymoron.” Overly confident in himself, which I see nothing wrong with, j$on still sees a few flaws in himself, when asked what does he need to work on he still see’s his minor weaknesses. if anything when rapping J$on answered his “word play…… i need to read an encyclopedia.”
