Its only been about three weeks since I met sticky and she’s already in my top 5 underground artist list. A lot of us have been stuck listening to mainly main stream music, especially with the huge corporation take overs from apple Spotify and tidal, mainly pushing main stream artist leaving underground artist digging for some sun light, but sticky will have no problem for her music speaks for itself. Sticky the menace is a young artist who’s been creating a buzz for herself, singing over creepy yet interesting melancholy beats, with an angelic voice that counters yet compliments the sound, giving the EP name “SOMBER: a perfect fit.
The work of the artist Sticky the Menace is a sonically pleasing one. Taking r&b to a dark yet jiggy place from the beginning with the first song “Loners interlude” painting a picture of her lifestyle in a top floor loft with girls surrounding her but delivering the image with swagger. “When they play my songs, these hoes know it” such verses let you know sticky is cocky behind her work which is completely praised and understandable. Her cockiness is displayed all the way through the album. “I be making people better…… for they next relationship” in the intro of the song “Kalm the Krazy”, sticky speaks on how each relationships just been a character build for the other person leaving her to pick the pieces of yet another failed relationship. What ties you along to her tales is the cinematic sounds that plays with each song creating a whole atmosphere.
Throughout the EP Sticky The Menace discusses her conflicting relationship with her past, indulging in drugs and, describing how getting close with anyone just hasn’t been the wisest decision causing her to push others away. Sticky the menace has a distinct sound that she seems to fit perfectly in the pocket with, leaving me and most likely you waiting for more of her drops to come this year.
